Libre Office is now preferable to Open Office.
The reason for this is that recently Open Office was sold to Sun Systems, the original developers of Java.
Some of those who had created Open Office objected to it being sold entire to Sun Systems.
Thus arose Libre Office: in order that a completely FREE version may continue to exist and be available to the public.
