Sorry that didn't work out for you. This probably won't either but I am going through every thing I know.
If you have an air brush you can use this paint
ALC-107 Chrome for Plastic | Alclad2.com
If you paint it right you will get a chrome metal finish, you have to paint a black base coat first.
Other than that all I can think of is using regular kitchen aluminum foil glued to the card stock and then smoothed out, then build your model.
