I can travel about fifty miles north of here and see Eastern Kingbirds. It's about the westernmost they get, I think.
The first time I saw one, I was driving to Portland and a strange bird flew across the road as I was leaving the town of Warm Springs. It landed on a low hanging tree branch on the side of the road. As I drove by, I was surprised to see what I thought was an Eastern Kingbird...which is what it turned out to be.
Oh...I almost wrecked the car checking it out. Never drive and bird at the same time 8v)
