A great find, Willy! I'd love to read this book. The air races and air racers of the 1920s and 30s are fascinating.
Of of the lesser-known novels of William Faulkner was also called "Pylon." It's about barn-stormers and was made into a film called "The Tarnished Angels," which Jim Reuter and I saw in 1958. A number of aircraft of the period were shown in the film. I've been looking for it for years, but apparently it has not yet been made into a DVD.
Faulkner (who trained as an RFC pilot in WWI) also wrote a short story called "Turnabout," which deals with WWI bombers and Royal Navy torpedo boats, and another flying novel, "A Fable."
