Top Gear is about the only TV show that I have to watch, it's more of a comedy show these days but they do have some of the best cars !
I have the kit, although they are more like 3D Jigsaw puzzles. I have not started them but I think, judging by the pictures, there will be a lot of work to make them look any good - as you mentioned - they are aimed at kids and you would have more problems making them water tight than the original cars ;-))
