There was more of that packing popcorn put on top filled to the top of the box which prevented them from moving about...but yeah, they were loose stacked on top of each other while in transit. But for your purposes of hand carrying the box, the models would survive better
.
Although, just thinking ahead using the packing popcorn....once you are at the show, you have to take them out of the box which is easy....but to putting back in the box with the packing pop corn already occupying all the space in the box, well, good luck getting them back in without making a huge static sticking packing popcorn mess! ha! I think one would have to carry a bag to empty some out, place the models, and then re-fill the packing popcorn.
