Yep, the “filp top” makes for easy and (more importantly) quick use. I made the tops interchangeable with several sizes of openings to hold different sizes of plastic (up to about 8” x 10”). I also made a bed extension (bottom photo) and frame to hold the 11” x 14” sheets of plastic that Micro-Mark carried back then (still
does). For that large frame, I envisioned having to heat the whole in a conventional oven then quick plop it on the vac-box and hope for the best ( although I never put the theory into practice):
