From USA supersonic:

Quoting from the original Trains Magazine article of 12/7/2012:

"rebuilding the No. 4014 would take several years with the aim of operating for the 150th celebration of the completion of the first transcontinental railroad in 2019."

Quoting Hathaway Veteran:

" It would be nice if this model would be available in 1-2 years to coincide with the event."

Fortunately, there are more years left than that, so Kooklik need not feel quite so pressured to perform.

I nominally compressed the milestone in my mind to 2015, but 2019 is the stated date. the intent of my comment was to generate publicity and sales. Interestingly, the comment about the 4-6-6-4 modularity would also work for same intent: How cool would it be have a large paper model of the UP 3985??

2019 is probably a realistic deadline, as the USRA will need to come up with a team to do a boiler inspection, and those for example who worked 4-8-8-4s are not that numerous anymore.

In any event, this model promises to be monumental and epic at the same time and I am happy to wait patiently. :-)[/COLOR]
