On this whole scale discussion, I have thought that a helpful tool would be to give the finished size of the model in inches or centimeters. Say the scale is of an airplane model is 1/33 and the finished model has a 11" wingspan. This way the modeler would be more able to grasp the size, or at least know if it will fit on the shelf, lol.
