Yeah, I've created a fair pile of failed attempts to the point that I now have a minimum amount of proficiency and confidence to move forward again...,

Some further development work.
First a newly developed aluminum-paper composite. It took awhile to get the stiffness and adherence just right. It's made from heavy duty aluminum foil and 100% cotton vellum [0.004" thick] for those who enjoy natural looking corrugated airplanes.
The second image of is of a corrugated 0.005" aluminum tooling foil piece that's been over tempered - looks rather realistic though.
