Great kit from a great series, I have a few of the 'Classics'. For Curt, the two-tone under surface was for recognition purposes by the RAF. All fighter aircraft at the outbreak of WW2 were painted black and white on the underside for this purpose. This scheme was dropped after the fall of France and before the Battle of Britain. It was re-introduced in November 1940, with just the application of black to the port wing, again for recognition purposes. This scheme was phased out in August 1941, being replaced with overall medium sea grey.
