The Hull parts,well that`s the first trick
i bought ready laser cut out set laminated on to 1 mm thick card board available at the model manufacturer website in this case GPM(they also have set for Zuikaku)If you decide to get one i advise you to get also photo etched parts and barrels for guns
All that help you save the time and lots of sleepless nights..
Putty well honestly i used a multipurpose filler by polycell (ultra Light)quite pricey but very easy to sand

And at the end a little update
i managed to cut out the bottom hull sheathing and i re-touched all the white edges
