Ahh, Gearing class DDs Dad was XO of Glennon, DD-840, for a couple years. In 1970s I got to spend a few days on the ship as it looped out in the Atlantic for a test of something or another. It was a really "nautical" feeling ship. Speaking of feeling things, one time I got to go deep in compartments in the bow, and I still swear that in putting your hand on the hull skin you could feel the water going by. That ship could throw a bit of a rooster tail when they opened up the throttles all the way.

I don't know about the Navy these days, but in Dad's days, 1960s, 70s, early 80s, destroyers sounded like they could be fun.

Can't offer a model, but can offer that this is a good book, after having it several years I gave it to Dad.
