One way to start looking would be that airliners.net pages with Buffalo's planes has the manufactirer's serial number if known, that would be a good search foundation for finding that specific aircraft's history.
Caption for a pic of another one of their planes mentions it was built 1942 for USAAF but that's as much as I've come across while skimming through the pics just now.
