Take a look at the spheres Uhu02 includes in his Aquarius models. There's a number of different sizes, all in the neighborhood of 2-3cm diameter. It's pretty easy to pull the shape out of his design (i.e. remove texturing) using Inkscape. They are all 5-7 piece stacked conic sections, like the one shown on Dave's Herky radome.
