I have a whole collection of hemostats that I filed the teeth off the inside of the jaws so they were smooth, so they wouldn't emboss the paper... works great.
I filed the first one, but found I could use a shop bench grinder to make the job much easier... just have to be careful and work slowly.
A dremel tool with a sanding drum or grinding disk would probably work very well also.
Handiest clamps you'll ever have are smooth jawed hemostats...
