Yes, exactly. I built a plotter that uses gcode produced from Inkscape svg files. Inkscape and printer drivers are smart enough to only print the page in the "page" area. The export and gcode writers send out the whole thing and have no idea of page size. It just centers all of the line information on itself and plots that data. So I now copy and paste the parts from a page size area of the big drawing into each of their own page sized svg files. Page sized, so I know what I selected would print on a single US letter page.
I use only the outline and tabs. No textures or fold lines on my exports. I paint the finishes on all of my models. I mean, if textures stand in the way or something...
