Yes, the cowl was meant to be impressive It was my first try to make the rounded effect. I achieved it by forming the rings on the soft material (the underside of my mouse pad) with the rounded end of my Olfa AK-3 knife (you can see this kind of action on one of the photos - the yellow rounded stick), then after gluing the rings together I applied some more BCG from inside and rolled the cowl again - on the cutting mat. All the holes in the rings were cut before gluing it all together.

Two days only because I'm grounded - I've severed my Achilles tendon 3 months ago, had an operation, 6 weeks in plaster cast, and now I still have to go on crutches - so time I have plenty and I intend to use it to the most.

As for the innate ability, I'm still learning and am far behind some grand modelers who's work I admire - mostly on the Polish modelling forums, trying to peep their techniques - and of course there is practice, practice, practice - testing ideas that come in to your head.
