For me the cutting out stage is where I do much of my "re-engineering" to add missing tabs or convert overlap joiners to butt type. I have found that downsizing large kits to 1:100 satisfies my need to invent a better mousetrap. Now if I was a treadhead I can see myself setting up one of those to cut out treads while I went to the therapist to help me find out what was wrong with me.
