Pendulum clock
I built this some 35 years ago; I still have it and, before the rubber band drive perished and broke, it would run for 4 - 6 hours.
I used brass shim material, (very thin brass sheet) drilled and cut into small squares and fixed with pva (I think, may have been Evostik); this overcame the friction problem and allowed it to run for so long.
It made a loud ticking noise through the hollow card components and would need tilting off vertical to get even running.
