A car company closes down because it has become too expensive to produce the cars
( and sell them at a reasonable price)
or people are just not buying the cars.
Can't blame the car companies for that.
Isn't Musk/Tesla producing batteries there?
I think any country that produces cars must also export cars to be viable.
Not every country is properly situated or equipped for car manufacturing and export,
...but they could still be involved by exporting Parts or other necessary components and materials.
I'll tell you one thing, there are a few Aussie models, like the Holden Ute,
that would have made a big impact in North America years ago...
if they had been seen by North Americans.
The El Camino and Ranchero were a much loved and lost American icon.
I'm sure a slightly smaller but beefier version like the Ute, would have sold well in the 70s and 80s
and probably still be on the market today.
