I use CA which I'm not real happy with. One thing I've found that helps is to really clean the metal area to be glued and roughen it slightly with sandpaper.
A friend of mine that stratchbuilds firetrucks in 1/32 using a lot of brass has got into induction soldering. He got a commission to do the New York City Super Pumper set in 1/16 and realized he'd need something more secure. He got the set up from Micro Mark and really likes it. Little pricey unless you use it a lot.
