i use a variety of tools. painter tape (delicate surface type), scotch atg tape, hair clips that i modify as needed, miniature wooden clothespins. the trick is to hold a part firmly but without damaging it, especially painted surfaces. holding tiny parts 'squared up' while gluing is a constant challenge and endless source of experimentation for me.
