I did re-enforced the rear section by placing a rectangular box inside. It helped to stabilize the rear section for when I glued the wings.
Check the completed ship. The missiles are a bear to make. I am working on them but may just leave them out. I added a few details to add some interesting touches (some panels, weapon scorch marks...) or to cover some "boo boos" I made along the build. I tried to cover up some of the folding edges by passing a pencil or a gray Crayola pencil, worked great. I finished it by spraying Krylon Satin clear to protect the model.
I did forget to tell that I printed the patterns on 110 white card stock at about 95% since my printer does not print to the edge. Used white Elmers glue to put this together.
The Pyro is very sturdy but the outer lasers kept breaking off so I used dowels and paper straws to add some internal structure from back to front in order to keep them in one piece.
Overall it was a great experience. Took me about 3 weeks to complete investing a little time here and there. I am planning (if it OK with the folks at the forum and the original designer) on retracing the patterns and add more details to the ship. Once done I can make it available to everyone. Will wait for the feedback before starting.
