World War One 'The Great War'
Howdy,
I was able to attend this month's November 3rd, Living History Day, Planes of Fame, Chino, California. The WWI aircraft on display did not fly. However, a B-25 took raffle winners for a flight.
Their Hanriot HD.1 an original WWI owned by Charles Nungesser French Ace was on display where visitors could walk up for a close look.
Jonathan Markley, Associate Professor of History at California State University, Fullerton. spoke about his grandfather, Corporal R. Bruce Fowler of the New Zealand Army, who served in Egypt, England, and France during WWI; suffering a face wound he benefited from the Queen Mary's Hospital Sidcup development of plastic surgery.
BRIGADIER GENERAL R. G. HEAD
His most recent publication is the biography, Oswald Boelcke:*Germany’s First Fighter Ace and Father of Air Combat. Interesting discussion of how highly Boelcke was respected by both friends and enemy.
