I live in Manhattan, NYC. People here throw away a mountain of perfectly fine products, not the least of which are computer printers. I have found that the reason is almost exclusively because the cartridge has gone dry, most likely from lack of use.
I am now working on my on my 3rd or 4th HP Photosmart C4480 printer. The cartridges are stupidly easy to refill with replacement ink from Ebay. The color quality is great. I've tried other printers over the years. Epson totally pass on them! Ther cartridges are hard to refill and the print head is in the computer not the cartridge like HP.
Hands down HP is the best by a mile.
