Bob - you have picked a really great little model there to make. I think it has a lot of charm and variety in it without anything being too tedious.
Nice work on the build as well.
But, Bob, most of all I am impressed by your method for making cotton rails. As a cotton railing person myself, I think this is just ingenious - I will be off to search for some right sized bolts this week!
What do you use to glue and finish your railings?
I normally run the cotton through a diluted PVA mixture on my fingers before I lay it down. This reduces any "hairiness" and helps stiffen the cotton. I then touch up joins with dilute glue again and then varnish (spray) or paint (brush) the finished rail.
I would be interested to hear how you approach it....
PS You know if you are ambitious, Walden also do the paddle tug Anglia, which was used to tow the barge. I have never seen the two modeled together.
