Building F. Prudenziati's Ships - Without Instructions?

Hello!

I just found out about F. Prudenziati's wonderful card models and downloaded several from his site (through the Wayback Machine). I am particularly smitten with his WWII era Italian warships, and downloaded all of the 1/200 scale plans.

I notice that only the largest and most formidable of the builds, the Zara, includes instructions... However, as I am just getting into the work of a shipwright, I'd prefer to start with one of the smaller examples. Do people simply man up and go about building these without instructions, or might it even be easier to start with the Zara and learn about Prudenziati's construction techniques via those instructions, then go back and build the smaller ships?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this question... I could not find another place that seemed appropriate. Thanks in advance!
