1/24 Scale Ford "Quad" Field Artillery Tractor

Sometimes known as a Quad Gun Tractor, the Ford 15A is the Commonwealth version of the Morris C8 Quad.
These were built in Canada by Ford and Chevy for use around the world in WW2.

Although it looks similar to the well known Morris C8, it differs visually in a number of ways.
The two main differences are:
the sides of the Body are flat (they angle inwards at the front on the Morris)
and the side doors (Driver and Passenger) are bigger/wider, and further rearward.

I chose to model the Ford FAT over the Morris because there are fewer scale models
and the Ford can be presented in both British and Canadian usage.

I have begun searching for reference material...I am hoping to get in touch with a Ford Quad owner.
Morris images are common online, but Ford FATs are much fewer.
Looks like there are three or four restored ones here in southern Ontario.
I just have to find one close enough, and the permission to go and take some photographs.

Usually I work from the ground up with a Military vehicle model...and when i get rolling, I will tackle the Frame/Chassis on this one.
But first, I had some interest in getting the basic body shape down on paper.
Its a curious collection of very odd angles, and turned out to be more of a challenge than I had anticipated.

But, with trial and error, I eventually got the basic shape sorted out...I can make a few tweaks and then move forward with other areas.

I also wanted to test the scale size.
I have settled on 1/24 scale to make the model more appealing to more builders.
It also means I can get away with no interior.
Paper models need extra support...internal formers and structures, that don't easily accommodate a scale interior.
I'm also trying to reduce the amount of work and time spent on the project.

No, I have no immediate plans to design the Limber and Gun trailers.
But the smaller scale means the model will still be a reasonable size if I do.
I am focused on the Tractor itself for the time being...but I am sure I will have more interest in the accessories once the vehicle is done!
