I haven't tried using magnets myself but it's something I'd definitely consider when it comes to removable ordinance etc.
I'd suggest maybe a bit of trial and error, just set up a couple of tests with magnets and different amounts of washers on some spare card so you can see how strong the bond is and you can adjust it to suit the weight of the parts you're trying to connect.
