Thanks Wyvern... the size of the model for me dictated giving it a try this way, as normally I would have done it when everything is attached. It's working out better than I thought. Though you want to have all the sections completed and test fitted before rigging. Trying to make fit adjustments later would be real "pain in the rear"..
