As i mentioned, this model probably recreates
Space Battleship Yamato. In it, after a massive alien attack (Babylon 5 fans: much like the Narn homeworld), Earth's atmosphere is poisoned (that "sunset" is actually permanent) and the oceans get dry, exposing the IJN Yamato which, depending on the show's version, either is retrofitted as a spaceship or serves to hide its construction.
