hirondelle...thank you for those photos, and I agree with you that usage was most likely mixed.
But some are Trucks...not Quad Tractors...so, very different tires.

And, every single one of the pics you posted appears to be Chevrolets! lol
And they may have used a different tire from the Fords, I don't know.

The argument was possibly restricted to Fords
and I admit, I have a 1941 photo of a factory fresh Ford Quad chassis (with no body fitted yet), and it has the directional cut tires.


That last truck (photo)is prewar...maybe not even military.
License Plate reads 1927.
I don't recognize the logo badge on the grille.
There was a company here in Brantford Ontario producing Trucks...but I don't know their logo.

re the release...
the kit, and package are pretty much ready for publish.
I finished the cover yesterday.

But first, I have prepared to reissue (at ecardmodels) my Autocar kits...
I have those all ready to go.

And then, after that. I will publish the FAT to the store (before Aug.)

I'll see if I can get it into papermodelshop.com any sooner.
