It's weathered to represent return from patrol with victory pennants on display.

Specifically - Klaus Popp's 8th patrol in U552. This was 52 days long at sea, (mostly on the U.S East Coast) with a high number of successes (8) and long enough to attain the corrosion levels I wanted to portray.


I highly recommend this model by U-Don. Even in my relatively inexperienced hands, the model went together really well.
