Thanks for your nice comments, fellas. VK, in Photoshop, I often use "magic wand" or lasso tools to select a specific area for change. If the area is all of one color, selecting it is easy. If the area contains multiple colors/patterns, it becomes more challenging to neatly capture the entire area to be modified. So, I prefer to work with black outlines on a light colored or white field for full recolors. If I were just adding painted on slogans, or logos to a rusty texture it wouldn't really matter.
