I guess it depends what you're building, the thickness anyway. I print a lot of model parts on 250gsm paper, it's thicker than what's usually recommended, but I like it.

As for the laminating itself, if you want to laminate whole pages at a time, I'd recommend a good spray adhesive, making sure to take your time and ensure there's no bubbles or wrinkles then leave the sheets to dry under a flat heavy weight, like a stack of magazines, for at least a day, the longer the better.
