I still hold to the idea that Musk was looking to add shock value to this. It looks so different than other trucks.
I also think that it is a blank slate. There are a lot of creative ideas being generated by it. I have seen quite a few complaints about not being able to reach over the sides and the reduced head room in the back seat. There are several ideas on electric vehicle sites with changes that could be made to the vehicle to make it more user friendly. I personally think that some of those ideas may be incorporated into the final design.
This isn't the final design, you know.
Musk sure is driving the thing around a lot in LA. I didn't think it was rated for being street legal. Maybe it falls into the custom car category as far as licensing
