Next is the ladder and egress platform.
Part 316 is the ladder. (Not sure why, but UHU02 included 2 ladders in his parts sheets. The other is part 369. Perhaps the 2nd one was included in case the first one had to be destroyed for installing skins.) To give the part realistic finishes I used aluminum tape on both sides. For a clean fold of the rails I used a photo-etch bending tool.
Parts 317ab are for the egress platform itself. They are glued back to back for two sided printing. The actual platform on the LEM was corrugated, so for surface dimension I attached strips of card stock then used aluminum tape on both sides to give it a realistic metallic finish. I also added a bit of gold colored paper on the corners. Parts 318 and 319 are the handrails. They are folded in half for two-sided printing. I also used aluminum tape on both side for realistic metallic finish.
To improve the realism, I replaced the printed pull handles on 316 and 318 with wire bent to the proper shape.
These assemblies will be attached as part of the final touches after the skins are installed.
Now the part I have really been looking forward to for years...the skins!
