In the fourth week of June 1945, the 201st Squad received 15 Brand new Republic P-47 D-30 Thunderbolts for 28 pilots assigned; the fourteen “borrowed” aircrafts were then returned to the parent 58th FG. The model depicts an aircraft in the scheme used by the majority of the machines used by the 201st Squad. Only Squad Leaders used petals painted on the cowlings. That will be covered in the next delivery. The unit had operated with a peak strenght of 32 pilots and an average of 17 P47s while assigned to the 5th Air Force. They were transferred from Porac airfield back to Clark Field on 30 July 1945, from which limited flying continued. All the missions carried out by the Squad were ground attacking role. This versión had the Black Invasion Stripes immediatly after the cockpit, no Paint into the cowling but some machines used a White cowling, the Mexican Air Force triangle were allowed to paint on the right upper and lower wings and in the rudder the Green, White and Red from the Mexican Flag. Best Regards,Tony.
