Project update - I think I know what the problem is.
Although the new mid-cabin crosssection fits OK the front of the canopy doesn't fit because the cross-section of the fuselage is not the circular one. I am on that cross-section which seems to be elliptical one flattened a bit from the top.
Well, I am still learning
