Flat in ventilated cardboard box like ones for documents.
Don't store it in attic,dry ventilated basement is best imho.
Paper,especially thicker better quality card,doesn't do well with rapid changes in temperature.Humidity of course is a paper killer,so are pests and some cats/dogs.
Check with some librarian/office clerk how they store documents.Same principles apply to card models.
