No. 18 Ryan STM


The 6 Ryan STM monoplane basic trainers for the Military Aviation School arrive by railroad to Mexico City ay January 13, 1938 under the direction of Colonel P.A. Luis Farell Cubillas. These 6 airplanes that came from the city of San Diego California with the construction plates No.182-186 received the air force plates No.1 to No.6.
The Ryans were assigned to the military aviation school where the cadets flew them already when they had 90 hours of training flights. Unfortunately of the 6 planes, 5 were lost in plane accidents and the last No.3 was dropped in 1942 when the school was in Monterrey and later when the school moved to Guadalajara the plane finished decoration in the main courtyard of the school building in the city of Guadalajara.
After the war this aircraft ends up in the United States where it was restored and is in flight status. The latest news that this aircraft is in Europe (2020)

I built this S&P model that Rata made the recolor and gave it to me two Christmases ago. As usual at 1/100 scale over 125 gr/m2 Oplalina paper. The rigging is made out of ordinary sewing thread due to Covid ain't be able to find quirurgical thread. And EZ-line fishing thread is no available here at Mexico. Best Regards, Tony.
