Not only the lack of textures bugs me though, those sleepers (and rails of course) are from a Polish company, hence they are European style sleepers while in the US in the mid 19th century those sleepers had more of a random shape and lacked uniformity in size and shape.

If we're talking 1869 transcon authentic, find a few "right size" twigs and use them. Neither UP or CP (Central Pacific, not Canadian Pacific
) were too particular about what they laid in those final days headed for Promontory. The worse the roadbed looks the more authentic it would be! lol!
