aansorge, what exactly do you mean by "that technique"? May I ask for a bit more precise question?

Don, as you'll see in these new photos below, the hull is not so smooth...
Looks like I identified the problem of hull parts inaccuracy. It seems to be that the model is intended to be built waterline, even though they provided the underwater option. That's probably why there are so many inaccuracies and places to fill with putty. I also had to make the black water line from scratch. The gaps between the underwater and overwater part of the hull were pretty fair-sized... I think the upscaling doesn't help here too...
All those problems obviously force me to use some paint here and there. And I painted some places, as it can be seen in the photos, but the colors are not definitive. I'll be trying to find the best-matching paints.
