Smile Douglas DC-9 1/100 (Draco)

Time to show a new model: Douglas DC-9-10, a classic of commercial aviation. Designed in the 1960s to meet a growing regional aviation demand in the United States, the then Douglas Aircraft product was a twin-engine derivative of the DC-8 with a design influenced by the Sud Aviation Caravelle, but improved, so much so that the DC- 9 gives rise to a large family of commercial jets including the MD-80/90 and the Boeing 717. Its design features with engines in the tail cone and the T-shape tail influenced a number of other later designs such as the EMBRAER aircraft and Fokker. Despite having been a commercial success and operated by a number of airlines, the DC-9 was practically not used here in Brazil (with the exception of the extinct Cruzeiro company that used the MD-80). My 1/100 scale short fuselage model represents one of the DC-9s in the fleet of Laser a domestic Venezuelan company that still operates the venerable jet on regional lines.
