HMS Spiraea Flower Class Corvette 1/400 Scale
While certainly not new to paper modelling, my interest has always been in aircraft with the occasional wheeled and tracked land vehicle thrown in.
Often visit this part of the forum to admire the wonderful models and though while I never felt expert enough to give informed comment I have been inspired by them to try one of my own.
This is a Gerry's Repaints version of a JSC (I think) Flower Class Corvette in 1/400 scale mounted on a seascape base from another kit that I modified on Photoshop for this purpose. Bow waves are bits of formed ends from a cotton tip which don't look too bad. Crew figures (rescaled from original 1/250) are available as a free download from the excellent Paper Shipwright site. Rigging/cable stays are cut to length 32 swg heat element wire (I use it for rigging on my biplane models) and is cheaply available from Ebay. It's easy to work with and actually responds well to PVA glue. 32 swg is the thinnest I have on hand though I think here is still a bit overscale.
Like I said, planes are my thing and am happy to be educated on things nautical so please feel free to point out any inaccuracies or mistakes.
