I have never experienced glue sticks that bond strong enough...yes I have a UHU stick.
I would also think it wold be very messy...or do you use a device for applying the glue from the stick?

no i dont use glue sticks
click on the link im my post and you will see they make a liquid glue
it a awesome dispenser bottle... i use it straight from the bottle 50% and the other times i use a syringe for precision control in small places
i find it superior to wood glue it bonds quicker and the extra wipes off cleanly if done so before drying and does not deform the paper like water glue
and is very thin and easy to apply
