Indeed! This thread in particular (and maybe this whole community too) could serve as a frame story for a novel or a short story. Saying this because reading your post I just remembered a fine novel by Nevil Shute called 'Trustee from the Toolroom' and it's main character a miniature model engineer and journalist of a periodical magazine Miniature Mechanics. Well worth reading. Shute is better known for novels like 'On The Beach' and 'Town like Alice'. Both fabulous books. Shute was an aeronautical engineer in his civil professsion and pretty good one too.
