Just watched the Roland Emmerich "Midway" last night. Yeah low and slow was the way they did it because "Bombs don't sink ships, torpedoes sink ships". Well as we know that cost them dearly.

I was a little surprised that they portrayed a SBD-3 trying to out climb a Zero in the Marshall islands bit, seems like a really dumb idea, clouds or not. I remember in Pappy Boyington's "Baa Baa Black Sheep" He said the P-40 could out dive Zeros but dont try to turn or climb with them. Yup, Zeros were nimble.

Also the chunk of armor behind the pilot's seat came in handy a time or two.

Anyhoo It did make for an exciting movie and using cgi allowed the ships and planes to be mostly correct unlike the "Pearl Harbor" movie with Ben Afleck. I think it was the row of de-commisioned frigates with their sharp bows that broke the magic for me.

Cheers
