This is my first trip into the world of aircraft. Although I did make a 1:300 scale airport with vintage planes.
Airport
This one is a bit bigger at 1:24 scale. It's the Wright Flyer 1 from Schreiber.
The instructions are quite basic, but I guess this would apply to the plane as well.
The first part of the construction is a template the same width of the model at about 20 inches. This helps produce the shape of the wings.
Once they are made it's just a matter of cutting out all the "woodwork". There is a supply of thin strips of paper that match the many laminated strips of card making the undercarriage
I was pleasantly surprised at the fit of all the "wooden" bits. Adding the strings helped to keep it all straight and strong - Just like the original !
This makes a nice model to add to my "collection" of vintage vehicles. It's a shame it's not steam powered ;-))
Cheers
Mike
